Welcome to the Federation School of Command.

The courses in this school are designed to give you an understanding of the IFT and prepare you to command or serve in a position on an IFT chapter.Each course expands on the knowledge of the preceding course. Everyone from the veteran to the novice IFT member can benefit from taking these courses.

Upon completing the reading of the text material of each course an open book test accompanies to give an indication of how well the subject materials were understood. Upon completion of the test it should be emailed back to the Director of the Federation Academy for grading. A discription of the grade rankings for a course are given under the Academy Awards section of this website.

The School of Command courses are listed below with a brief description of them.

Officer Candidate Course:

This is the entry level course in the School of Command. It is a great course for all new IFT members. In this course the IFT member will learn about the philosophy and mission of the IFT. Ideas on chapter structure and proceedures are discussed giving the new member a good general understanding of the hows and whys for a chapter.

Staff Officer Course:

As an IFT member takes on chapter responsibilities this course is a good reference to educate the member on chapter proceedures. This course deals with internal chapter affairs, chapter reports, and stresses the importance of reporting within the chapter as well as to IFT Command.

Commanding Officer Course:

This course acts as the inital primer for any IFT member that wished to either Command or be an Excutive Officer on an IFT chapter. Chapter structure as well as chapter function and activities are described. Reporting proceedures are presented in greater detail in this course.

The Chapter Commander's Handbook:

This is a great reference for any new chapter or any IFT member that wishes to be the Commander or Executive Officer of a chapter. Sections on Command philosophy and Command proceedures are as well as two example promotion systems are presented in this course. Perhaps the most extensive reference section, to be found any where, of Star Trek rank, rank insignia, insignia placement on the uniform, and uniform designs is presented in this handbook.
