    Parental Warning

If you are a parent concerned that your child may be exposed to content more suited for an adult, then read on.

This website, as well as many others in this community, displays a large number of games and there are a good number of different themes, and genres that these games revolve around.  However, one common presence in a large number of these games are violence, whether it be medieval swordplay, space combat, or modern war-fare.  There are some exceptions, and even some games toned specifically for children, but the vast majority of the games that we display are combat oriented.  In addition to violence some games may have public channels where offensive language is frequently used, and possibly even adult situations being depicted within the text.

The game information we provide was all supplied by either the game's administrator or a staff member with approval from the game's administration.  Games which fail to include "Adult-Oriented Material" in their listing may very well be adult-oriented.  To ensure that your child is connecting to a game that is appropriate for his or her age level, you will need to do some investigating directly.  Below we provide some tips which will help you find a game suitable for your child.

4 Tips for Finding the Right Game:

    1. Avoid any game which clearly lists itself as adult-oriented or has a rating beyond your child's age.

    2. Connect to the game you are considering and spend some time watching the players and the public channels.  Weekends and evenings are generally a good time to see a nice cross-section of the game's player base.  Try to make at least a few different visits at different times.

    3. Try to find an immortal or administrator on the game itself, and then ask them about the atmosphere and suitability for children.  You might even wish to ask some of the other players you run into.

    4. Our search engine is a good tool to help you find child-safe muds.  Just point a web browser to our search form and enter children in the keyphrase text area that is provided.  After pressing the button to start your search a list of all mud listings that match the word children will be displayed.  NOTE: Be sure to read the text descriptions of each of the returned listings, as many listings may match the word children but they may not be child-safe.  However, any child-safe listings will be included in that list!

    (URS) URL Rating System

This area is to show and explain the uses of the (URS) URL Rating System for (MUD) Multi-User Domains and Web Sites.  Improper use may mean the difference between the corruption of a youth to the complaints of a parent and possible lawsuites.

URL E/I: is meant for a range of audiences.  The sites with this rating may contain educational information for many different age ranges and should contain additional rating listed below.

URL Y: is meant for a young audience.  The sites with this rating mostly focus on children and should not contain adult language or content.

URL G: is meant for a general audience.  The sites with this rating must not contain adult language or content.

URL PG: is meant for audiences over the age of (7) seven.  These sites contain some content of adult language that may perhaps be heard in an average American home and some minimal violence.

URL 13: is meant for audiences in their teens and older.  These sites may contain mild adult language, situations unsuitable for children, and some gore and violence.

URL M: is meant for audiences (17) seventeen years and older.  These sites may contain strong language, adult situations (without nudity) and large amounts of gore and violence.

URL A: is meant for audiences of (18) eighteen or (21) twenty-one and older, depending on government guildelines.  These sites may contain nudity, strong violence, gore, language and adult situations in any amount and combination.
