Former IFT Executive
Ambassador Admiral John Fallon
(Retired) once said, that if we wish to change our
society, communication is very important ..... this is a major
function of the Diplomatic Corps of the International Federation of
Trekkers.
The Diplomatic Corps is the
wing of the IFT team responsible for initiating and maintaining
communications between IFT, it's members, and other fan
organizations, initiating pacts / treaties, various inter-fandom
activities and newsletter exchanges. By this we hope to further the
living out of the philosophy and vision of Gene Roddenberry the
creator of Star Trek between these organizations and demonstrate to
society that there is another more generous and hopeful way of life
we can choose to follow.
As the only Star Trek Fan
Club that was started by Mr. Gene Roddenberry himself, we are
indebted to him to spread his vision for "a kinder better
& more gentle world," the vision all Trek fandom needs to start
working together for, if it truly wants to claim it understands Star
Trek's true message.
We must try to achieve his
dream of an optimistic future where, when we get to the Twenty-Third
Century there is no issues of hate, racism,
sexism or class, and we will have evolved to a point as human beings
where we've got our stuff together. And we can take that
consciousness out and explore...
Now is the
time to make everyone Trekkers and non-trekkers alike, to wake up once more to
Gene's message. When he was asked "what should a fan club be?" And
his answer was "what do you see the crew do?" They go places and
they help people. And that's what a fan club should do. Now
that is what we need to do, get out there and help others, rather than
just dwelling upon the fun of the fiction side of the Roddenberry
writings. And the the needs of the many really do out
weigh the needs of the few, or the one.
