The IFT Academy has a series of awards to reward completion of the various courses of study that the Academy offers.

When an IFT member completes an Academy course with a score of 85 or above, that member may purchase a ribbon that corresponds with the school that the taken course belongs.

For example: An IFT member takes the Officer Candidate Course and passes. That member may then purchase a red solid color ribbon from the Fleet Awards Department that represents the School of Command.

In addition: the Academy has a rating system to distinguish and recognize the members passing grade.

Academy Grading Scale

A grade of 85 t o 89

Receives the ribbon only and is considered passing

A grade of 90 to 93

Falls under the classification of "Class of Honors."

A bronze star may be worn on the ribbon to indicate the distinction of graduating with an honors rating.

A grade of 94 to 96

Falls under the classification of "Class of Superior."

A silver star may be worn on the ribbon to indicate the distinction of graduating with a superior rating.

A grade of 97 to 100

Falls under the classification of "Class of Excellence."

A gold star may be worn on the ribbon to indicate the distinction of graduating with an excellence rating.

When more than one course has been taken in a school of study, the star color will be determined by taking an average of the scores. For an example: Officer Candidate Course - score of 100, Staff Officer Course - score of 92. The star color to represent the satisfactory completion of both courses would be based on a score obtained by adding the two and dividing by 2. It is a 96. A silver star representing "Class of Superior" would be worn on the ribbon.

When an entire course of study is completed, a bar may be worn on the ribbon. These bars are "Leadership" in bronze, silver, or gold for the School of Command, or "Academic" in bronze, silver, or gold for all other schools. The color is determined once again by the adding the grades of all the courses divided by the number of courses.

All awards must be approved by the Director of the Federation Academy and should be ordered through the chapter's Commanding Officer. Payment must precede the order. All orders will be drop shipped to the Commanding Officer's address
