Immediately afterwards, a new Excelsior class starship had the honor to be commissioned with the proud name USS Rebecca. The ship was refitted with the latest in IFT technologies and given the hull number of 9512-A, to distinguish it from the predecessor. At the time, was the only IFT ship in the Inland Empire of Southern California, but the ship has been reassigned to GEO 3, where the ship serves are the flagship for that area. GEO 3 covers the geographical location of N. C., S. C., Georgia, and Florida. The USS Rebecca is Commanded by the highly talented, seasonal officer, Captain Sande Riggs. Her Executive Officer, Commander Jose Rodriguez, both members since '94 of IFT. They are also the GEO Commander and Assistant GEO Commander. This ship is very actively involved in Community Service, participating in the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation and the Hollywood Charity Horse Show (which supports Ahead With Horses and Futures (a Native American Children's Group). This ship also actively works conventions, traditionally working the California Grand Slam, and planning to work the May Convention in Orlando. The Hollywood Memories was a convention actively worked while located in Southern California. A newsletter is published monthly called Steady As She Goes, which features, logs by the Officers, Special Interest Topics, Updates on Star Trek and other Sci-Fi Genres. There are games and trivia questions, ship activities, and an events calendar. The newsletters, starting in February, will appear on this web page. The Captain and the Executive Officer both serve on the ASDB, as Specialists on the Shakedown Cruises. The Rebecca is a Science Vessel on a continuing mission to explore and patrol the Federation Side of the Neutral Zone, with her warp signature registered as Klingon on the other side of the Neutral Zone. The mission statement is: Do Not Let Your Fears Get In The Way of Your Dreams. While the Ship is located in Florida, members are welcome from all over.
