Mission Statement

The USS T'hy'la has become a chapter whose members (50+) are united the world over in their appreciation of Star Trek: The Greatest Human Adventure. International Federation of Trekkers (IFT) is the operating authority for those chapters worldwide to link members into local fandom as well as the International organization.

Our Mission: To peacefully explore deep-space. To seek out new civilizations and new life.

Our Statement: To promote the optimistic ideals envisioned in Star Trek.

Our Vision: To make the dream of a peaceful Earth as envisioned in Star Trek a reality.

Our Values: Caring, Respect, Teamwork, Common Sense, Aggressiveness, Honesty, Fun

Headquarters: Albuquerque, New Mexico - North America, Earth, Sol System

We are people of all ages and from all walks of life who enjoy Star Trek in all its forms -- the three season original series, the major motion pictures, the television series (The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, Voyager, Enterprise), and the numerous books and magazines. Our Prime Directive is to share our interest in Star Trek in an open environment, to serve our community, and to have fun. All interested persons are welcome to join us.

Since it's debut on television 35+ years ago Star Trek was the first successful mass visualization of the future. Its enduring strength arose from the fact that it was the first science fiction show to emphasize plot and character -- and to present a universe where people of all races worked together to solve common problems.

Throughout an original three season run, a cartoon sequel, a number of major motion pictures, four new television series, and numerous books, the dream lives on. Classic Trek gave us more than an escape from the turbulent 60's. It offered hope for the future. When it was canceled, Bjo Trimble's successful grassroots campaign to keep it on the air made television history. Star Trek taught us that we can control mass media -- we do have a say over our environment ... and our destiny.

Join us as we celebrate the future today, and look forward to a brighter tomorrow!

The meetings of the USS T'hy'la offer opportunities to have fun while you serve your community. We recognize crew members who have done extra service or distinguished themselves in service to the USS T'hy'la. In keeping with the problem-solving themes of Star Trek, our members do more than meet and talk about the show. The crew of the T'hy'la are active in support of charity. We believe that time is our most valuable gift, so we donate time to help persons and charitable organizations. We conduct fundraisers and volunteer our services to help our community.

Each member brings his or her special abilities to the group. We recognize this value by assigning fictional ranks and positions within the Chapter, reflecting the interests of the members. In addition, participation allows the individual to advance in fictional rank.

* We study science. Outer space holds mystery, but our own ever-changing planet offers a lifetime of study. We keep abreast of current scientific projects and share our knowledge through programs we conduct in the community.

* We support the arts. Creative writing, art, model building, and craft events are but a few of the human endeavors in which we are interested.

* We enjoy athletics. A healthy mind controls a healthy body, and we value physical activity for fun. We challenge other ships and conduct fun athletic events.

* Finally, we play. Our members go on Away Missions to visit other Star Trek clubs, conventions, and theme parks. The Chapter is like an extended family. The closer we get to know one another, the more respect we have for the diversity we shall see.
